White Label Uniforms was started in 2016 by Tamzin Hawkins and is now run by Tamzin and partner Jonti, along with their little one Nikau who lends a helping hand from time to time. We run our business out of an old studio alongside Nikau Gardens in Nelson New Zealand.

Sustainability

We always push to design and produce our products with as little impact on the natural systems of the world as possible, and are building and growing these systems day-to-day. You can read more about this here.

From aprons to uniforms

White Label started when Tamzin made a set of hard wearing aprons for a friends cafe in Wellington. Word quickly grew, and a few years later her aprons can be seen in a lot of cafes and restaurants throughout Aotearoa. This naturally grew into more customised items including upholstery, soft furnishings and uniforms.

Our Makers

All of our products are designed in Nelson, and made by an amazing group of women who are self employed, independent machinists sprinkled throughout Aotearoa. All of them are women who have been made redundant or left their factory jobs, who set their own rates and have flexible working hours. They hold so much knowledge, and we try our best to link our younger older workers together to help spread that knowledge.

Supporting local businesses

One of the many reasons we keep our manufacturing in Aotearoa is to help support not just our local business community but our wider community too. At the last count we interact with over 150 different businesses including Cutters, Presses, Fuser, Hardware suppliers, Thread suppliers, Fabric suppliers, Die makers, Dyers, Pattern makers, Digitisers, Marker makers, Trims and button suppliers, Cotton and webbings, Leather suppliers, and Couriers. So many of these businesses rely on our support, and add so much pleasure and friendships along the way.

Thank you to everyone who we have the pleasure of working with.
